[Omar thinks about staying, once he and Eggsy have as much of the room squared away as they can. It's a desire that's a little bit selfless -- to make sure Haydon stays out -- and a little bit selfish -- to steal a look at all this paper still piled up on the desk -- and a little bit that other thing. The part of him that knows he doesn't know when he'll see Ricki again, and doesn't like the idea of locking the last piece of him away.
In the end, a lot conspires to drive him back to his own room, with Ricki's door locked tight behind him, but he leaves a handwritten note right on top of the stack:]
[Well, there are a lot of ways he thinks about handling this. And then there's Harry Hart, walking the halls, and all those ways go right out the window; Ricki bursts over towards Omar's, knocks on the door fast and urgent, fingers crossed, praying he's in, and that his weapon is where he thinks it is.]
[Omar is still himself, he's still in, and Ricki's weapon is still in his pocket, as are his pills. Because he's still himself -- maybe now more than ever, after the shakeup with Haydon -- he doesn't open the door right away. He calls through it, first:]
well that was anticlimactic but not really different than I expected.
1) dickhead blabs about your day job 2) probably nobody will notice or care because not really barge-relevant. now feel slightly awkward about bringing it up regardless because then it's 'oh whatever that's old news' 3) life continues
I know you don't think much of me anymore, but I just wanted to say-- mm.
[She hesitates; clears her throat.]
I had a speech in my head, and it sounded good - but I didn't write it down, and I forgot it as soon as I started talking. You ever have that happen? Thinking something's easier than saying it. Mostly it was about how even though you weren't right about everything you said about me, you were right about some of it, and I been thinking about that a lot and trying to grow from it. It was also about how I think you're one of the smartest people here, and you make people talk and think, and that's something we need to do. You're a challenger. That's good, and I think the people who don't think it's good are the people who should be challenged the most. I'm one of 'em sometimes, I know. And I-- you know, I miss you. If you can't talk to me anymore 'cause I'm a warden, I will respect that, but I guess I'm kinda hoping we can talk 'cause we're friends, too. Or used to be.
I care about you, anyway.
That's all.
[She is, in all honesty, at least halfway assuming that this will go ignored. If it does, she won't try again; she can't make herself be a needler. But she wants to make one last attempt.]
Jesus Christ, Tiffany, if it was because you were a warden I'd have stopped talking to you when you became one. We fought months after that, about the fact that you're totally delusional.
[This in lieu of 'I noticed your boyfriend has either graduated or vanished; would you like to discuss your feelings like emotionally healthy adults'.]
